100+ Years of History

While the association has been active far longer than 100 years, it was only on 7 March 1924 that the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham officially incorporated – with William Kerr as its first official President. In 1976 the association’s name was changed to the Northumberland County Law Association. In March 2024 the NCLA celebrated 100 years of incorporation with a grand gala, and a virtual history project, made possible with virtual documents from the Cobourg Public Library, and the Law Society of Ontario’s Archives.

Information has been organized into decades, each other their own interactive timeline. Over the course of 2024 a new timeline was released once a month leading up to the NCLA’s Gala, which took place in November 2024.
